Road Shagger Racing has scaled back to a partial season program in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge TCR ranks, the team has announced.

The Las Vegas-based squad, which won January’s season-opener at Daytona International Speedway with the longtime driver pairing of Jon Morley and Gavin Ernstone, will miss next month’s round at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

It has cited the financial impacts from an accident sustained in last month’s Alan Jay Automotive Networks 120 at Sebring International Raceway that destroyed its Audi RS 3 LMS TCR.

“It’s disappointing, as missing one round pretty much spells the end of any championship hopes,” said Morley, who sits fifth in points despite the Sebring DNF.

“But Laguna is my best track and I live close to it, so I’ll be at the track that weekend and will make it known beforehand that I’m available.

“Hopefully I can find a seat somewhere to keep the dream alive. I’m a Road Shagger driver for life, but I can’t drive for them if they’re not there.”

The team plans to debut its second-generation RS 3 LMS TCR at the following round at Watkins Glen International in June, but has not yet announced what other races it will contest this season.
