BJ Zacharias set the pace in Friday’s two 45-minute practice sessions at Virginia International Raceway, as he and Brad Jaeger seek their first victory of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge season.

Zacharias, driving the No. 14 Doran Racing Nissan 370Z, set the day’s fastest pre-qualifying time in GS, in the morning at 1:58.615.

Zacharias was only two tenths ahead of the No. 15 Ford Shelby GT350R-C, which will not race Saturday due to a heavy accident by Scott Maxwell. However the Multimatic Motorsports team may be able to utilize a previous generation Ford Mustang Boss 302R, to allow Maxwell and Billy Johnson to race.

Matt Bell, who co-drives with Lawson Aschenbach, led the afternoon practice session in the No. 9 Stevenson Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R at 1:59.045.

Fall-Line Motorsports was third and second in the two sessions with Ashley Freiberg and Trent Hindman in the No. 46 BMW M3.

In ST, James Clay led practice in the No. 84 Bimmerworld BMW 328i, in the car he shares with Jason Briedis.

Clay’s best time of 2:04.962 in the afternoon session was 0.03 of a second clear of Eric Foss’ best time from the morning, at 2:04.992 in the No. 56 Murillo Racing Porsche Cayman he shares with Jeff Mosing.

Qualifying runs from 5:55 to 6:40 p.m. this evening.
