Scott Andrews set the pace in Friday’s practice sessions for the IMSA Prototype Challenge Presented by Mazda at Virginia International Raceway.

The K2R Motorsports driver posted a best lap of 1:42.734 in his Ligier JS P3 in the day’s second practice session, leading the timesheet by almost five-tenths.

It came after Zach Robichon led the way in the morning’s session with a time good enough to put the ANSA Motorsports driver third quickest overall at the end of the day.

Stephen Simpson was second quickest in Practice 2 for Extreme Speed Motorsports, while Memo Gidley and Benjamin Waddell also set quick times. 

Gidley’s Five Miles Out Racing entry was the best-placed Norma M30 with a time 0.7 seconds off the pace.

Kyle Masson led the way in the MPC class for Performance Tech Motorsports with a best lap of 1:47.032 in the morning session.

His Elan DP02 was almost 1.8 seconds clear at the end of the day, with Michal Chlumecky the next best driver for Eurosport Racing.

Qualifying is set for 10:45 a.m. EDT ahead of the race at 5:55 p.m.
