Following a promising debut at Virginia International Raceway, Jr III Racing has added the IMSA Prototype Challenge season-ending race at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta to its schedule, ahead of a planned full-season effort with two cars in 2020.

The upstart team, led by longtime engineer Rick Cameron, took delivery of its first Ligier JS P3 Nissan in late June, with Kris Wilson finishing ninth at VIR.

While having fielded cars for customers in SVRA, HSR and AER competition since, team owner Billy Glavin has elected to add the Road Atlanta event to the team’s end-of-year schedule.

The team is also considering an entry in the Michelin IMSA SportsCar Encore at Sebring next month.

“We learned a lot and we all left Virginia feeling encouraged,” Glavin said. “Wins in this series will not come easy so when we saw an opening in the company schedule, we decided to jump on it.

“The guys are anxious to get back to work on our IPC cars and prepare for the 2020 race season.”

Cameron will be back to guide the team through the final PC race of the season, with Wilson again set to drive solo in the 1 hour and 45-minute race.
