ORECA Technology has confirmed a partnership with Katech that has seen the company take over engine servicing and support for the LMP3 platform in North America.
The agreement includes service and support for all LMP3 teams in the IMSA Prototype Challenge presented by Mazda, as well as other series the ACO-approved cars could be eligible in the region.
Katech is now responsible for trackside engine support, rebuilds as well as technical, electronic and engine support for the Nissan-based 5.0-liter normally aspirated V8 powerplant.
ORECA, which had been contracted by the ACO for all LMP3 engine and electronics servicing worldwide, will remain responsible for assembly of new engines, as well as providing technical and logistical assistance to Katech.
“Katech is excited to continue to expand its footprint in professional motorsports through our partnership with ORECA and participation in the IMSA Prototype Challenge,” said Katech director of motorsports Kevin Pranger.
“Our involvement with racing continues to build our performance database which in turn fuels innovations we bring to both the track and the aftermarket enthusiast.”
The Detroit-based engine builder had previously serviced the Chevy-based powerplants in the Oreca FLM09s that competed in the Prototype Challenge class in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
