DragonSpeed has signed Giacomo Altoe to partner Albert Costa Balboa in the team’s GTD Pro class Ferrari 296 GT3 for the remainder of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.

The 24-year-old ex-Lamborghini factory driver, who started the season off as a fourth driver in Conquest Racing’s GTD entry, will make the switch over to the Elton Julian-led team beginning with next month’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

Altoe and Costa Balboa will be teamed up with Ferrari factory ace Davide Rigon for Sebring, as well as the season-ending Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

“We’re excited to welcome Giacomo to the team full time,” said Julian. “He shares familiarity with, and success in, the 296 GT3 with Albert and Davide, making him the perfect fit as we continue our push for podiums and victories this season.”

Altoe added: “I’m extremely motivated for this opportunity. IMSA is a world-class championship and to be able to join DragonSpeed alongside Albert and Davide is a great chance. I can’t wait to start working with the team in two weeks’ time at Sebring.”

DragonSpeed is coming off a sixth place class finish in last month’s Rolex 24 at Daytona with Costa Balboa, Rigon, Miguel Molina and Thomas Neubauer.

It will continue to receive technical support from Risi Competizione for the rest of the season.
