Brendon Hartley will make a cameo appearance in the No. 40 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac V-Series.R in next weekend’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, in place of Alex Lynn, joining full-season drivers Jordan Taylor and Louis Deletraz.
The Toyota Gazoo Racing FIA World Endurance Championship star, who started the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season in WTR’s No. 10 Cadillac as its fourth driver, will shift to the sister entry, a WTR spokesperson confirmed to Sportscar365.
It comes after Lynn, who was earmarked for the three long-distance races in the No. 40 Cadillac, was forced to withdraw from January’s Rolex 24 at Daytona due to illness and did not get to test with the team afterwards.
“As Alex Lynn did not compete in the Rolex 24 at Daytona due to illness and then did not have the opportunity to test at Sebring International Raceway due to availability of a Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R , GM, the team and the two-time Sebring winner agreed it best to have Alex miss Sebring and focus on the FIA World Endurance Championship season with Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA,” a statement from WTR read.
WTR ran only a single Cadillac GTP entry, utilized by all four of its full season drivers, in last month’s IMSA-sanctioned test at Sebring International Raceway following Deletraz’s race-ending accident at Daytona that damaged the chassis.
The No. 10 WTR Cadillac at Sebring will feature the previously confirmed driver lineup of Ricky Taylor, Filipe Albuquerque and Will Stevens.
No word has been given on the team’s third driver in the No. 40 Cadillac for the season-ending Motul Petit Le Mans.
