Andretti Autosport will debut its new Aston Martin Vantage GT3 in next weekend’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

As first reported by Sportscar365, Andretti is expanding into the production-based ranks with an entry into the GTD class for Jarett Andretti and Gabby Chaves.

Its GTD program will focus on select Sprint Cup rounds considering the team is also fielding a Ligier JS P320 Nissan in the Michelin Endurance Cup.

“We have been working toward growing into a GTD program since the end of 2020,” said Andretti.

“And via our partnership with Justhooit.com and Corsa Horizon, we have been able to put a program together for some additional races this year with an eye toward a full season in 2024.”

Andretti has raced in GT3 machinery before, sharing a Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 with Ryan Briscoe and Jeff Westphal in last year’s Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS.

Former NTT IndyCar Series competitor Chaves, who teamed up with Andretti for the first two rounds of the Endurance Cup season, is set for his GT racing debut.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to join a top manufacturer like Aston Martin with a great team that Jarett has put together to help us keep pushing for victories in sports cars,” said the Colombian driver.

“I’m very grateful and excited for my first go at a GT car. I am looking forward to the challenge a new program brings and motivated to learn and push myself to go toe-to-toe with the best GT drivers in the world.”

Andretti Autosport has not stated where else it run the Aston Martin this year beyond Laguna Seca.
