United Autosports has confirmed that Tom Blomqvist will step in to replace Paul di Resta at next weekend’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
The British racer, who recently took overall victory at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen with Acura Meyer Shank Racing, will pilot the No. 22 Oreca 07 Gibson alongside Bronze-rated driver Daniel Goldburg.
Blomqvist replaces di Resta as the Peugeot Hypercar driver is unable to compete in Canada due to clashing commitments with the FIA World Endurance Championship round at Sao Paulo.
The move marks a return to the Anglo-American squad for Blomqvist, as the 31-year-old drove for the team in WEC and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023.
“I’m grateful Daniel and the United Autosports team have entrusted me to fill in for Paul,” said Blomqvist.
“We completed a successful test a few weeks back which was good for me to get acquainted again with the team and get some laps under my belt.
“We’re both coming off a victory last time out in Watkins Glen in our respective classes, so we want to carry that momentum through to Mosport.
“I’m excited, I love these cars and I love this track, it couldn’t be a better combination.”
