Change Racing Team Owner Joins Penske in NASCAR Role

Change Racing team owner Robby Benton has returned to his roots, having been named Monday as Team Penske’s new team manager of its NASCAR operations.

The former Xfinity Series and Camping World Truck Series driver fielded Lamborghini entries in both the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America in recent years, winning multiple Super Trofeo titles, as well being a race-winner in GT Daytona competition.

Benton also owned RAB Racing, which took part in the Xfinity Series.

The North Carolina-based team had been absent from last weekend’s Roar Before the Rolex 24, prompting questions over its future IMSA participation.

“I’m very happy to join an operation like Team Penske,” Benton said. “Anyone that is involved in this sport has a tremendous amount of respect for Roger Penske.

“I’ve emulated many of Team Penske’s values through my own programs, so it’s especially meaningful to now be a part of this team.

“I’m honored to receive this opportunity and I hope I can help the organization continue moving forward as they continue to expand their NASCAR operations.”

Benton will be responsible for administrative and competition-related duties for the team’s Cup and Xfinity teams and will report to Competition Director Travis Geisler.

Change’s exit from WeatherTech Championship competition has left only a single Lamborghini entry from Paul Miller Racing for the 2018 season.
