Maro Engel will rejoin SunEnergy1 Racing for next weekend’s Acura Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio, in the first regular-distance race of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.

The Mercedes-AMG factory driver has been confirmed alongside team owner/driver Kenny Habul in the Riley Motorsports-prepared No. 75 Mercedes-AMG GT3.

Sportscar365 understands that error on the entry list initially listed Thomas Jaeger, who will not drive in the two-hour and 40-minute race.

Engel, who is competing full-time in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, will make his second start with the team following an 8th place class finish in the Rolex 24 at Daytona alongside Habul, Jaeger and Mikael Grenier, who completed the lineup at Sebring.

The team is set to use a rotation of drivers this year, with Habul revealing to Sportscar365 in January that he’d like to invite several “old F1 stars and famous people” to race alongside him.

Tristan Vautier, who co-drive with the U.S.-based Australian last year, will return for the two GT-only races at Lime Rock and Virginia International Raceway, meanwhile.
