Inception Racing has confirmed an expansion into a full-season IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship program in 2023 with its McLaren 720S GT3.

The Optimum Motorsport-run team, which won the Michelin Endurance Cup title in GTD, will step up to a season-long effort spearheaded by Brendan Iribe, who will be joined by Frederik Schandorff for the season and Ollie Millroy in the Michelin Endurance Cup races.

McLaren factory driver Marvin Kirchhöfer will complete the lineup for next month’s season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona.

While having initially committed to a full-season program this year, Inception contested a total of seven rounds in 2022, which was highlighted by a second place class finish in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen.

“Although we didn’t compete in all the IMSA races this year, we had some really strong results within the endurance events such as the podium at Watkins Glen and at Petit Le Mans,” said team manager Bas Leinders.

“We’re now looking forward to participating in the full calendar to continue our success from this year and contest for the overall title.”
