Marco Sorensen will make his full-season IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship debut as part of The Heart of Racing’s lineup in the GTD class.
The Aston Martin factory driver, who claimed the GTE-Am title in this year’s FIA World Endurance Championship season, as well as class victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will join reigning GTD class champion Roman De Angelis in the No. 27 Aston Martin Vantage GT3.
Darren Turner and team principal Ian James will complete the lineup for next month’s season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Sorensen, who also won the 2019-20 GTE world championship with the British manufacturer, has replaced Maxime Martin in the Heart of Racing’s full-season GTD lineup, with the Belgian having signed with BMW M Motorsport for next year.
The Heart of Racing will also continue to field a GTD Pro class Aston for Alex Riberas and Ross Gunn, with fellow Aston Martin-affiliated driver David Pittard joining the duo for the WeatherTech Championship season-opener.
“We are really pleased to have finalized our plans for the year and we are ready to get things off on the right foot at Daytona,” said James.
“We have fantastic support from Aston Martin, and our driver lineups are very strong.
“The crew is almost entirely identical to our group as last year, so we have a lot of experience together as a team to build on this season and everyone is just looking ahead to getting things going at the Roar next month.”
