Kellymoss with Riley has moved its No. 92 Porsche 911 GT3 R from GTD Pro to the GTD class for the 2024 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
The car, to be driven at the season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona by Alec Udell and David Brule and two yet-to-be-announced drivers, was initially earmarked to run in the Pro class next year, as confirmed by both the initial and Rolex 24 entry lists that were released by IMSA in recent weeks.
However, team principal Bill Riley told Sportscar365 that the No. 92 Porsche will join the team’s No. 91 entry in the GTD class next year, in a similar structure to the 2023 season.
Riley explained that a decision was made a few weeks ago and indicated that IMSA recently accepted their request.
It has resulted in a reduced 12-car GTD Pro field for the Rolex 24, and most likely nine entries for the full season.
Udell and Brule will be behind the wheel of the No. 92 Porsche at this week’s IMSA-sanctioned test at Daytona International Speedway, with Trent Hindman set to take part in IMSA’s ‘targeted performance testing’ in the No. 91 car.
Riley said the former GTD class champion is under consideration for a race seat in the Porsche next year, with its No. 91 lineup still being determined.
