Former Formula 1 star Felipe Massa has confirmed his second consecutive Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona outing with Riley in LMP2 to Sportscar365 while testing with the team at this weekend’s IMSA-sanctioned test at Daytona International Speedway.
Massa will contest next year’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-opener in the No. 74 Oreca 07 Gibson alongside Riley’s unchanged 2025 driver lineup that includes full-season drivers Gar Robinson and Felipe Fraga, as well as the team’s Michelin Endurance Cup driver Josh Burdon.
The same quartet of drivers finished on the LMP2 class podium at this year’s Florida endurance classic in what was Massa’s sports car racing debut.
“Looking forward [to it], Massa told Sportscar365. “We’re going to race with the LMP2 [car] again.
“I raced this year for the first time with that car. I will do the same next Daytona 24 Hours with the same team.
“We finished the event third, so it was nice. It’s good fun.
“I really enjoyed it to race here, and I’m doing it again.”
Massa, who also competes in the Brazilian Stock Car Pro Series, where he currently leads the driver’s championship with four rounds remaining, said his sports car racing outings in IMSA will likely be limited to yearly Rolex 24 campaigns.
“Once a year, it’s a nice race,” said Massa.
“Normally, Daytona is what I’m looking forward to doing. I’m racing in Brazil in the stock car, so we are also fighting for the champion this year there, so we will keep doing that.”
Nevertheless, Massa expressed excitement over returning to the LMP2 class at next year’s twice-around-the-clock endurance race.
“It’s quite a competitive category, and the car is also good fun to drive,” he said.
“Very good downforce. [It’s] a very good, fun way of driving these cars, so [I’m] looking forward to that.”
