Tommy Milner topped the time charts in opening practice for Sunday’s Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International, in a tightly fought session for the GT Le Mans cars.

Milner reeled off a quick lap of 1:42.341 in his No. 4 Corvette C7.R, edging out Richard Westbrook’s No. 67 Ford GT by 0.103 seconds.

A late improvement by Giancarlo Fisichella put the No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GTE, in its return to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, third overall and in class.

Joey Hand (No. 66 Ford) and Antonio Garica (No. 3 Corvette) completed the top-five.

GT Daytona saw the No. 16 Change Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 of Jeroen Mul lead the way, thanks to the Dutchman’s 1:44.700.

The No. 57 Stevenson Motorsports Audi R8 LMS of Andrew Davis and Christina Nielsen’s class championship-leading No. 63 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 488 GT3 completed the top-three.

No major incidents were reported over the 60-minute session, other than an off-course excursion for one of the Michael Shank Racing Acura NSX GT3 cars and a left-rear puncture for the No. 73 Park Place Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Practice 2 is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET.
