***Mike Hedlund will join the Performance Tech Motorsports Prototype Challenge lineup for the weekend, alongside James French in the team’s No. 38 Oreca FLM09. Hedlund drove with Starworks Motorsport the first two races, but had to miss the Sebring race due to a last-minute business commitment.

***Zach Veach’s first laps in the No. 85 JDC/Miller Motorsports PC car Friday morning will be his first ever in a sports car. The Stockdale, Ohio native will be using an insert from co-driver Mikhail Goikhberg; Veach isn’t making his own seat just yet. As of now, this is a one-off for the Indy Lights veteran with future races to be determined. He does have track experience from Star Mazda races, most recently in 2012.

***The No. 18 Muehlner Motorsports Porsche 911 GT America is not on site as of Thursday, and with drivers TBA, unlikely to join for the remainder of the weekend. Without Muehlner and Wright Motorsports’ pair of Porsches, it would drop the GT Daytona field to 11 cars and the overall field to 35.

***Both the Riley Motorsports Dodge Viper GT3-Rs are in new liveries for this race. The No. 33 car driven by Jeroen Bleekemolen and Ben Keating will have the primary red, white and blue for ViperExchange.com, in a match of the livery the team will run at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Meanwhile the No. 93 car is adorned with the red and white of Mosing Motorcars.

***BAR1 Motorsports also is in a new livery this week, with Edvisors.com and JetSuite signage on Brian Alder’s now primarily blue and yellow No. 16 Oreca FLM09. Todd Slusher and John Falb, a pair of IMSA Cooper Tire Prototype Lites veterans, will share the car.

***With this the first “standard,” non-endurance race weekend of the year for both the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, Continental Tire has a more normal amount of tires it is bringing to this weekend’s race. Continental Tire will bring roughly 3,000 tires to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to accommodate the two series; P teams will be allowed 8 sets of tires for the race (including dry and wet tires); PC teams, 6 sets; and GTD teams will receive 7 sets.
