The No. 6 Team Penske Acura ARX-05 of Juan Pablo Montoya is out of the Motul Petit Le Mans following an accident for the Colombian in the second hour.
Montoya lost control of the DPi contender in Turn 3 after appearing to go over the curb and made contact with the inside wall.
Heavy damage was sustained to the rear of the car before he came to rest on the grass, to bring out the race’s first full course caution.
Montoya was running fifth at the time prior to his apparent race-ending accident.
The caution has seen the the majority of the Prototype contenders all pit for service, which has seen Montoya’s teammate Ricky Taylor assume the lead in the No. 7 Acura DPi.
Spencer Pigot and Tristan Nunez, now in the Nos. 55 and 77 Mazda RT24-Ps, respectively, now run second and third overall.
