Basecamp will be the primary sponsor of 3GT Racing’s No. 15 Lexus RC F GT3 in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship beginning with this weekend’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

The team’s recognizable ice-blue chrome has been exchanged for fire red chrome with the logos.

3GT’s No. 14 Lexus will remain in the same blue livery.

David Heinemeier Hansson, who co-founded Basecamp in 2004, has joined the Michigan-based for a full-season GT Daytona class effort alongside the returning Jack Hawksworth.

The pairing will be joined by Sean Rayhall this weekend at Sebring.

Basecamp is an industry-leading cloud-based product management suite, with more than 3 million accounts.

“At first, we just hoped for additional monthly income,” Heinemeier Hansson said. “But it’s been an amazing success.

“Now I have a company that lets me sponsor race cars around the world. My professional life and my hobby meet when I see the logo on the side of the car.”

Team owner Paul Gentilozzi added: “We received a lot of attention last season with the twin blue chrome cars. We know people loved the blue but with a new sponsor on the No. 15 Lexus RC F GT3 it seemed like a good time to change up the livery.”

3GT’s sister No. 14 entry will be driven by Kyle Marcelli, Dominik Baumann and Philipp Frommenwiler this weekend.

Any speculation that Hansson was hired on talent has just been debunked. Paul needs to go with red and gold stripes on his cars to resemble the circus tent he is running.

DHH is fast, reliable and brings money to the team. What’s not to like?

Get over yourself RHR fan, this article is not here for you to vent your pettiness. DHH is a talented driver and appreciated by his fans and I am sure the team as well. If it was all about his money, as you assume, then why wasn’t he on the car at Daytona? Ridiculous.

BTW, the 15 looks beautiful and I cannot wait to see it on track this weekend. Wishing the entire team much success at Sebring.

RHR Fan: If you have an AXE TO GRIND with “useless meat in the seat” taking away rides ONLY because of their money from deserving Drivers that belong you will NOT find somebody that agrees more! BUT let’s state ALL the FACTS as they are… David H-H is bringing funding BUT is a fantastic well above average Driver that would be hired as a PRO regardless. There are only so many rides to go around, they fact he brings funding makes him more likely to be chosen over another well above average PRO that brings NO funding! I have no doubt RHR would agree 100%!

Personally, I am anything BUT a PG fan. I am very happy to see Lexus in the sport, but for the life of me, why they would want a skunk like PG representing the brand is way beyond me.

OK- that said, what caught my eye with the new sponsor is exactly what “messed” my eye. Hard to believe a sponsor would dive into the game without any recognition. The livery package appears to be an afterthought. You can’t read the logo 6 feet away, let alone on TV or flying by a 150 mph! Jeez Basecamp…welcome to the sport – now show yourself to the world!
