The No. 91 Kellymoss with Riley Porsche 911 GT3 R has been withdrawn from next weekend’s Motul Petit Le Mans following a non-racing injury for Alan Metni that has forced the team to park the GTD class contender.
Metni was due to share the car with Porsche Motorsport North America selected driver Kay van Berlo and Porsche-affiliated driver Jaxon Evans.
Team co-owner Andy Kilcoyne explained that they looked to fill the car with an adjusted driver lineup for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season finale but ultimately were unable to put the pieces together.
“There’s just too many back-to-back races,” Kilcoyne told Sportscar365. “We’ve got Indianapolis the week prior to that and then we’re doing a tire test at Watkins Glen and then Petit.
“Without being in for a championship, unfortunately, the risk didn’t meet the reward.”
The team will instead place its full focus on the No. 92 Porsche for Alec Udell, David Brule and Julien Andlauer.
Kilcoyne, meanwhile, confirmed plans of returning as a two-car operation in 2024, with both the Nos. 91 and 92 Porsches understood to have been conditionally approved as full-season entries.
When asked if one of the cars will be in the GTD Pro class, as originally suggested in July, Kilcoyne said “we’re working on that.”
He added: “It’s reasonably plausible that one will be a Pro and one will be a GTD. We’re getting close on finalizing the lineups.”
