Performance Tech Motorsports will miss this weekend’s Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America, opting to pull its Oreca 07 Gibson entry for the second race this season.

The Kyle Masson and James French-driven Prototype entry had an early end to the weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park following an accident for Masson in practice.

It came following a race-ending accident in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen the previous week, which had led to team opting to skip the Road America race and regroup for the final two Prototype races of the season.

“We know what we’re capable of and we want to be operating at that level always,” team principal Brent O’Neill said.

“We want to regroup. We showed a lot of promise at Watkins Glen after testing and we’d like to take that approach again for the end of the year. We have high expectations for how we execute a race weekend.”

The team’s withdrawal will result in a 34-car entry for the ninth round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season, with 13 cars set to do battle in the Prototype class.
