Alessandro Pier Guidi will join Cooper MacNeil in the No. 63 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 488 GT3 in this weekend’s Continental Tire Road Race Showcase, WeatherTech Racing has confirmed.

The reigning FIA World Endurance GT drivers’ champion will be MacNeil’s fourth different co-driver of the season.

Alessandro Balzan, who was intended to complete the entire IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season with MacNeil, was replaced by the combination of Jeff Segal and Gunnar Jeannette due to the Italian undergoing a medical procedure in late May.

It will mark the factory Ferrari driver’s first trip to the four-mile Wisconsin circuit.

“I’m really happy to join the team and Cooper,” Pier Guidi said. “I’ve known the team for a few years and I know how well prepared they are and how strong the team is.

“I never raced with Cooper but first of all he is a very good guy and then he is really quick, so I really hope to help Scuderia Corsa and Cooper achieve their goal.”

MacNeil, who along with Jeannette scored a season-high third place class finish in GT Daytona last time out in Lime Rock Park, will be looking for continued success this weekend in the home race of WeatherTech, which is based in Bolingbrook, Ill.

“Alessandro has a lot of experience in the Ferrari 488 race car,” MacNeil said. “He is a fast driver and won the WEC championship last year for Ferrari.

“I am looking forward to driving with him and seeing what he can bring to the team. Road America is very much our home race and with our strong run at Lime Rock ten days ago we are looking to improve a few more steps on the podium this weekend.”
