The Roar Before the Rolex 24 will again be held the weekend prior the Rolex 24 at Daytona in 2022, it has been confirmed.
Daytona International Speedway announced Tuesday the schedule for next year’s 60th anniversary edition of the Florida endurance classic, which will take place on Jan. 29-30.
The race will serve as the opening round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, with all five classes confirmed to be in participation (DPi, LMP2, LMP3, GTD Pro, GTD).
Practice will kick off on Thurs. Jan 27 with the four-hour BMW Endurance Challenge IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race scheduled for Friday, Jan 28.
As was the case this year, the annual pre-season Roar test will take place the weekend before, on Jan. 21-23, with qualifying to determine the starting lineup for the Rolex 24 set for Sunday, Jan. 23.
The qualifying format remains unconfirmed. A 100-minute qualifying race was introduced this year, although received mixed reviews.
“We are excited to celebrate 60 years of memorable, iconic moments, and the continuation of a rich legacy with the 2022 Rolex 24 at Daytona,” said track president Frank Kelleher.
“We are looking forward to hosting fans from across the globe at the World Center of Racing for 24 hours of the most incredible sports car racing, along with an unforgettable experience at this diamond event in sports.”
