Sabine Schmitz will make her Rolex 24 at Daytona debut, with the “Ring Queen” confirmed in Frikadelli’s Porsche 911 GT3 R for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season opener.

Schmitz, who missed last weekend’s Roar Before the 24 due to her Top Gear filming commitments, will join Patrick Huisman, Frank Stippler, Sven Mueller and team owner Klaus Abbelen.

She replaces Connor De Phillippi, who was provisionally listed as the fifth driver.

“We’re amazed that we finally could make it happen,” Schmitz said. “I only hope that Connor will not be too disappointed.

“He knows his way around Daytona and would surely have done a great job for us.”

Abbelen added:  “Sabine is a fixture with Frikadelli Racing. We are absolutely excited that she has found a way to experience with us the famous race on the legendary Daytona International Speedway.”

The German squad, taking part in its first race outside of the Nurburgring Nordschleife, was the quickest of the Porsche contingent at the Roar last weekend.
