Second Penske Acura Slows With Five Hours to Go

Juan Pablo Montoya slows on track in eighth hour; Van der Zande leads overall…

Both of the Team Penske Acura ARX-05 cars are out of contention in the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, with the No. 6 car of Juan Pablo Montoya grounding to a halt on track.

The Colombian, who was running inside the top-five, stopped with an apparent loss of drive.

It came moments after contact between the No. 6 Acura DPi and Tristan Vautier’s No. 90 Spirit of Daytona Cadillac DPiV.R, which resulted in a spin for Montoya while battling for fourth.

Montoya’s stoppage came less than one hour after teammate Ricky Taylor also stopped on track, but with engine failure.

The No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi of Renger van der Zande, meanwhile, leads overall, with Fred Makowiecki (Porsche GT Team) and Alessandro Balzan (Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 488 GT3) out front in GT Le Mans and GT Daytona, respectively.
