Starworks Motorsport is set for a return to a full-season effort in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship this year, with a LMP2 entry for John Farano and Gabriel Aubry.
The Florida-based team, which will run under the Tower Motorsport by Starworks banner, had a reduced 2020 campaign due to travel-related restrictions for Canadian Farano, who was the team’s designated Bronze-rated driver.
Starworks contested only four of the seven LMP2 rounds last year, highlighted by class victory at Motul Petit Le Mans with Farano, Mikkel Jensen and Job van Uitert in their Oreca 07 Gibson.
Team boss Peter Baron declined to comment when reached by Sportscar365 on its plans for this year.
The expected full-season entry comes as another boost to the Rolex 24 grid — which is now likely feature up to a dozen LMP2 entries — with at least three of them signing on for full-time campaigns.
PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports and WIN Autosport, featuring Mazda-affiliated driver Tristan Nunez, are the other two committed full-time LMP2 entries at the moment.
