Gavin Joins Vasser Sullivan for Rolex 24

Ex-Corvette Racing driver Oliver Gavin has joined Vasser Sullivan Racing for the Rolex 24 at Daytona, with the team also confirming the return of Townsend Bell for the twice-around-the-clock enduro.

The IMSA veteran, who parted ways with the Pratt & Miller-run factory Corvette squad at the end of last year, will join Jack Hawksworth and Aaron Telitz in the team’s No. 14 Lexus RC F GT3.

Bell, meanwhile, will be back in the No. 12 Lexus for Daytona after having been replaced in the team’s full-season lineup by Zach Veach.

Vasser Sullivan’s third drivers for the Michelin Endurance Cup races have not yet been announced.

It will mark Gavin’s first start in the GT Daytona class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship after a nearly 20-year career with Corvette.

“I’m quite pumped to be joining Vasser Sullivan for the Daytona Rolex 24 and I’m excited to compete in the GTD class taking on the challenge of trying to win another Rolex,” said Gavin.

“I’m joining a great driver lineup with Jack and Aaron in the No. 14 Lexus RC F GT3 and will be looking for my 50th win in IMSA; I can’t wait to get started.

“Really looking forward to driving the Lexus, and big thanks to Jimmy and Sulli for having me on board to compete in the Rolex 24.”

Bell, meanwhile, will share driving. duties with Veach and Frankie Montecalvo in what is expected to be a one-off outing this year.

“We’ve had a lot of success there, including finishing first and second last year in the Daytona sprint race and placing second in the team’s debut at the Rolex 24 in 2019,” he said.

“We are all committed to continuing and building on that success and I am looking forward to driving again with Frankie and working with Zach Veach as he transitions to sports cars.”
