Alec Udell has been confirmed as Robert Wickens’ co-driver at DXDT Racing for the remaining sprint rounds in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, beginning with next weekend’s Monterey SportsCar Championship at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

Udell, an eight-time consecutive race-winner with the team in GT World Challenge America powered by AWS last year, had already been on the team’s Michelin Endurance Cup lineup, and was confirmed for Laguna Seca with the release of the entry list this morning.

The 29-year-old will also contest the races at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Road America and Virginia International Raceway.

“Over the last year, we had great success in the shorter race formats with the DXDT Corvette Z06 GT3.R,” said Udell. “I can’t wait to get out there and bring some strong results home for the team.

“I’ve got a lot of respect for Robert. He doesn’t take no for an answer and finds a way to get done what he knows is possible, that takes a lot of perseverance, and that inspires me.

“He’s got great spirit and the kind of energy that’s infectious. You want that on your team.

“On top of it all, he’s super quick in everything he drives, and I can’t wait to share the car with him.

“I am very grateful to David (Askew, team owner), Bryan (Sellars, program manager), Erin (Gahagan, team manager), and the rest of the team for their trust in me, I can’t state enough how excited I am.”
