Risi Competizione has returned to the top of the time charts in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competition, with Toni Vilander going quickest in Practice 3 for Sunday’s Michelin GT Challenge at VIR.
The flying Finn reeled off a 1:40.855 in the No. 62 Ferrari 488 GTE to edge out the No. 66 Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GT of Dirk Mueller by 0.174 seconds.
John Edwards was third quickest in the No. 24 BMW Team RLL BMW M6 GTE, followed by Richard Westbrook’s No. 67 Ford and the No. 25 BMW of Bill Auberlen completing the top-five in GT Le Mans.
Jeroen Mul, meanwhile, continued to lead GT Daytona in the No. 16 Change Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3, as the Dutchman searches for his second consecutive class pole.
The No. 57 Stevenson Motorsports Audi R8 LMS and No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW M6 GT3 completed the top-three in class.
All GTD cars in the final 60-minute session were under Madison Snow’s 2016 track record.
