Danny Formal paced the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America field on Thursday at Watkins Glen International, setting the quickest overall lap of the day and topping both practice sessions.

The Wayne Taylor Racing driver and reigning series champion laid down a 1:47.236 lap in the morning’s 45-minute first practice aboard the No. 1 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 he shares with Hampus Ericsson.

Formal also led the way in Practice 2, though he was four-tenths of a second faster in the morning session.

TR3 Racing was second-quickest overall on Thursday after Elias De La Torre’s best effort from Practice 2 placed him 0.673 seconds off of Formal’s leading pace in his No. 29 Pro class Lamborghini.

Colin Queen was third-best overall for ANSA Motorsports entry he shares with Enzo Geraci, ahead of World Speed’s No. 22 Lamborghini with Jaden Conwright at the wheel.

Al Morey rounded out the top five fastest times in Pro with his best lap from Practice 1.

WTR also topped the Pro-Am times at Watkins Glen, with Brendon Leitch’s 1:49.198 lap from Practice 1 placing him narrowly ahead of the No. 14 Flying Lizard Motorsports Lamborghini of Slade Stewart and Andy Lee.

The Am class saw Sebastian Carazo and Sean McAuliffe on top after their No. 46 Precision Performance Motorsports entry reeled off the best class lap time of the day in the afternoon practice session.

Tom Capizzi, meanwhile, was the fastest LB Cup class driver on Thursday, with his 1:50.170 lap time placing him inside the top-15 overall in second practice and comfortably ahead of the rest of the class.

Practice 1 was interrupted by a pair of red flags. The first of which was brought out when Seth Henry’s No. 44 Kaizen Autosport Lamborghini went off track at Turn 5 at the Outer Loop. Running resumed 11 minutes later.

However, in the final ten minutes of running, the No. 67 TR3 machine of Conrad Geis lost a wheel on the front stretch, prompting the 45-minute session’s second stoppage.

Gabriel Holguin’s No. 45 PPM Lamborghini survived a spin at Turn 5 in first practice, while the No. 81 Pro-Am class RAFA Racing entry later spun and recovered at Turn 8.

Practice 2 also saw the red flag displayed when Holguin went off in the final sector at Turn 10 a few minutes after the No. 63 TR3 machine of Mateo Siderman spun and continued on at Turn 9.

Qualifying sessions for Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America’s pair of rounds this weekend is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. EST Friday morning, ahead of Race 1 at 3:00 p.m. EST that afternoon.
