Will Bamber and Elias De La Torre claimed pole positions for the pair of Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America rounds at Watkins Glen International this weekend in their TR3 Racing Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2.

Qualifying 1 saw Bamber top the time sheets early and maintain his position throughout the first of two 15-minute sessions to set this weekend’s race grids. The TR3 driver laid down a 1:46.337 lap in his Pro class No. 29 Lamborghini to outpace Wayne Taylor Racing’s Danny Formal by 0.236 seconds.

Pro-Am pole-sitter Brendon Leitch put two WTR cars in the top three in Q1, with his best lap proving third-quickest overall and later going on to the class pole in Q2 as well.

Al Morey, meanwhile, put his Pro-class No. 77 Forty& Motorsports entry fourth-fastest, with Nick Persing’s WTR Lamborghini rounding out the overall top five times in first qualifying. ANSA Motorsports was sixth-quickest overall and second in Pro-Am.

Anthony Bullock’s solo-driven No. 12 One Motorsports Huracan will start both races from the Am class pole, after qualifying ahead of Jackson Lee in Q1 and Glenn McGee in Q2.

In LBCup, Forte Racing’s Tom Capizzi went quickest in both sessions, going roughly half of a second faster than Rocky T Bolduc’s No. 99 RAFA Racing Lamborghini in Q1, with a similar margin to Nick Groat in Q2.

Slade Stewart went for a spin at Turn 5 in his No. 14 Flying Lizard Motorsports Lamborghini in first qualifying, but recovered without major incident. In the final minutes, Christopher Tasca went off at Turn 9 in his Forty7 machine, but also managed to continue without interrupting Q1, which ran entirely green.

De La Torre took the Race 2 Pro class pole after running was interrupted for most of the session by a red flag. The TR3 driver reeled off a 1:46.612 lap time in the No. 29 Lamborghini he shares with Bamber, going 0.199 seconds faster than WTR’s Hampus Ericsson.

Persing was third-quickest overall in second qualifying for WTR, ahead of RAFA Racing’s Kiki Porto in fourth, and Jake Walker in fifth overall.

Andre Lagartixa brought out the red flag in the opening minutes of Q2 after going off at the Bus Stop chicane on his first flying lap in the No. 26 Alliance Racing Lamborghini, stopping the session before any of the 37 drivers on the grid could set a representative lap time.

Roughly five minutes were added to the end of the session to allow drivers a few laps to lock in their qualifying times.

Race 1 of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America weekend takes the green flag Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. EST with live coverage available on Peacock as well as Lamborghini Squadra Corse and IMSA’s YouTube channels.
