Lamborghini has taken the wraps off its new racing concept, the Urus ST-X, which will take part in an innovative new single-make championship in 2020.
Announced at the Lamborghini World Final in Vallelunga, the Urus ST-X will compete across Europe and the Middle East on specially prepared FIA-approved circuits that combine on and off-road tracks.
The arrive-and-drive formula will offer customers a complete package including car and technical support during race weekends.
The Urus ST-X Concept is based on the Italian manufacturer’s first-ever ‘Super SUV’ and comes with performance and racing-specific enhancements, including a 25 percent weight reduction to the production model.
It is equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that produces nearly 650 horsepower, along with larger air intakes for cooling optimization and FIA-approved safety elements including a steel roll cage, fire suppression system and FT3 fuel tank.
While a calendar for the inaugural 2020 season has not yet been unveiled, the Urus ST-X will make its track debut during next year’s World Final in Italy.
