Loris Spinelli recorded the quickest time of the day in practice for Sunday’s Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America double-header at Virginia International Raceway.
Spinelli, who shares the Pro-Am class No. 51 Taurino Racing Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo with Claude Senhoreti, reeled off a best lap of 1:45.893 in Friday’s afternoon session to outpace the No. 16 Change Racing entry of Stevan McAleer by 0.541 seconds.
McAleer led the way in the Pro division, ahead of the No. 6 O’Gara Motorsport/USRT Lamborghini of Steven Aghakhani, who was third overall and second quickest on the time sheets.
Richard Antinucci in the No. 27 Dream Racing Motorsport entry was fourth, with Kyle Marcelli completing the top-five overall in his No. 1 Prestige Performance with Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini.
An accident for the No. 61 MCR Racing Lamborghini of Max Weering brought the session to an early end with less than ten minutes left on the clock.
All of the fastest times were set in the scheduled 30-minute afternoon session — in full dry conditions — after only 13 of the 28 competitors ventured out in the early morning session on a wet track.
Giano Taurino was quickest of the Am competitors while LB Cup was led by the No. 4 MCR Racing Lamborghini of Michael Mennella.
Qualifying is on tap for Saturday at 3:05 p.m. ET. Both 50-minute races will be held on Sunday, featuring live streaming coverage on IMSA.tv, Lamborghini.com and Trackpass by NBC Sports Gold.
