Robert Noaker set the quickest lap time in both of Wednesday’s Mustang Challenge practice sessions at Sebring International Raceway, reeling off an insurmountable 1:13.324 lap in the morning session to pace the field before qualifying.
Noaker was significantly ahead of his rivals aboard the No. 13 Robert Noaker Racing Ford Mustang Dark Horse R, with his quickest lap outpacing Devin Anderson’s best time from Practice 2 by 1.535 seconds, despite the TechSport driver being the runner-up in both sessions.
Alfonso Diaz put his No. 22 TechSport machine third fastest overall and led the Dark Horse Legends class, 2.134 seconds off the Noaker’s pace with his best lap from Practice 2.
Corbin Collins was fourth quickest in his No. 20 McCumbee McAleer Racing Mustang ahead of Cristian Perocarpi, who rounded out the overall top-five for LAP Motorsports.
Colin Harrison’s fastest lap put him sixth overall and fifth in the Dark Horse class to put three TechSport cars inside the top-5 in class.
Alex Bachoura was the second fastest DHL driver aboard the No. 33 Spark Performance machine, with Zachary Lee finishing Wednesday third-quickest in class.
Five cars had separate off-course excursions in the morning session, with only a single driver finding the runoff in Practice 2, though none of these incidents interrupted running in either session.
A bizarre infraction for Collins resulted in the MMR driver being issued a five-minute stop-and-hold penalty for taking his car on track before the Practice 1 officially began.
With both practice sessions complete, the field of 21 drivers will qualify at 4:05 p.m. ET this afternoon, ahead of Race 1 tomorrow afternoon.
