Riley Dickinson claimed victory in an incident-filled opening Porsche Deluxe Carrera Cup North America race of the weekend at the Miami International Autodrome.

The Kellymoss driver notched his fourth win of the season after fending off challenges from both Thomas Sargent and Will Martin.

Martin, in the No. 9 JDX Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, dropped out of contention following the race’s first restart with 16 minutes to go after contact that led to a left-front puncture.

Both Dan Clarke and Kay van Berlo, who was making a wildcard appearance in an Accelerating Performance Porsche, collided with each other on the restart as well, resulting in a second full course caution.

It set up a two-lap shootout to the finish, which saw Dickinson hold off McElrea Racing’s Sargent by 1.895 seconds.

Alex Sedgwick appeared to be en route to a career-best third place finish until ending his race with a drive-through penalty for incident responsibility.

It opened the door for Michael McCann to take a surprise podium, ahead of Topp Racing’s Ryan Yardley and Travis Wiley, who completed the top-five.

Grant Talkie was sixth for ACI Motorsports while Sabre Cook was seventh at the line in her Deluxe-sponsored Kellymoss Porsche.

The race’s first caution was for Jimmy Llibre, who stopped on track with fluids coming from his No. 74 MDK Porsche after contact with another car.

Thomas Nepveu was another front-runner to hit trouble, with the Canadian having dropped back on the final restart after running fourth with apparent damage to his Porsche as well.

Pro-Am class honors went to Kellymoss’ Efrin Castro, who edged out Marco Cirone. Cirone benefitted from a late-race pit stop by the No. 56 Topp Porsche of Jeff Mosing, who had been running second at the time.

Mark Kvamme, meanwhile, claimed his fourth consecutive win in Am, in a race that saw his two championship contenders John Goetz and Scott Noble retire in the pit lane.

Race 2 is scheduled for Sunday at 12:15 p.m. ET. Live coverage will be available on Peacock, IMSA.tv and PorscheCarreraCup.us featuring commentary from IMSA Radio.
