Will Martin has scored pole for the first Porsche Deluxe Carrera Cup North America race of the weekend at Porsche Rennsport Reunion 7, in a storming time from the Englishman at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

Martin, driving for JDX Racing, recorded a best lap of 1:23.388 in the 25-minute session, which was interrupted by an accident from Elias De La Torre that set up a six-minute shootout to the finish.

Martin ended up 0.078 seconds faster than the No. 17 McElrea Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car of Tom Sargent, with Pro class champion-elect Riley Dickinson set to start from third on the grid.

It marked Martin’s third Carrera Cup North America pole of the season.

Alex Sedgwick and Jason Hart completed the top-five for JDX and MDK Motorsports, respectively.

Michael McCarthy, Sean Varwig, Jimmy Llibre, Bayley Hall and Dan Clarke rounded out the top-ten, meanwhile.

PJ Hyett made a last-lap improvement to score pole in Pro-Am in his Kellymoss Porsche, while Mark Kvamme took pole in the Am category in his MDK Porsche.

Race 1 gets underway Sunday at 9:05 a.m. PDT (12:05 p.m. EDT), while Race 2 is set for a 3:35 p.m. PDT start (6:35 p.m. EDT), with both races available on PorscheCarreraCup.us, Peacock and IMSA.tv.
