Van Berlo Claims Road America Pole in Kelly-Moss Sweep

Kay van Berlo has claimed pole for the first Porsche Carrera Cup North America race of the weekend at Road America.

The Kelly-Moss driver recorded a best lap of 2:08.061 in Friday’s qualifying session to outpace teammate Riley Dickinson by 0.257 seconds.

Parker Thompson qualified third in his No. 9 JDX Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, followed by Trenton Estep and Michael McCarthy, who completed the top-five for MDK Motorsports and Kelly-Moss, respectively.

Alan Metni returned to the top of the time charts in Pro-Am, claiming class pole in his No. 99 Kelly-Moss entry.

Metni’s best time was 0.466 seconds quicker than the No. 65 entry of Efrin Castro, who ended up second.

It gave Kelly-Moss 1-2 sweeps in both the Pro and Pro-Am classes.

The Am class pole went to the No. 43 MDK Porsche of Mark Kvamme, meanwhile, thanks to a 2:11.472 lap time.

The first 40-minute race of the weekend gets underway Saturday at 8:50 a.m. CT with live coverage on Peacock, PorscheCarreraCup.us and IMSA.tv.
