The new-for-2025 GTDX class is set to debut in IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge, with nine GT3-spec cars entered for this weekend’s pair of season-opening races at Daytona International Speedway.
Entries representing BMW, Ferrari and Porsche make up the class grid in the newly expanded series, featuring efforts from the likes of WeatherTech SportsCar Championship teams Turner Motorsport, Conquest Racing and Wright Motorsports.
Additionally, ST Racing is set for its multi-class IMSA debut with a BMW M4 GT3 for Samantha Tan, while AF Corse will have two Ferrari 296 GT3s for Matias Perez Companc and AJ Muss.
Wright, meanwhile, will enter a Porsche 911 GT3 R for Adam Adelson, while Conquest will have Ferraris for Dave Musial Jr. and Sr.
Jake Walker and Vin Barletta, meanwhile, will drive Turner BMWs.
Unlike the WeatherTech Championship, only year-old models are eligible in GTDX, which runs to a separate Balance of Performance system that does not utilize torque sensors, which are now mandatory in GTD Pro and GTD.
A total of 33 cars are entered across the three classes, which prohibit Gold and Platinum-rated drivers.
Eight LMP3 cars will be on the grid in VP Challenge’s top class, with six Ligier JS P320 Nissans and two Duqueine D08 Nissans.
Reigning champion Steven Aghakhani is currently not listed, although there are two to-be-determined drivers as of the initial entry list release.
The GSX category, for GT4 machinery, meanwhile, has 16 entries, which will include the global sports car racing debuts for the Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 and BMW M4 GT4 EVO.
RAFA Racing and BSI Racing each have a new-gen Toyota entered, while Auto Technic Racing and Carrus Callas Raceteam will run BMW EVOs in the pair of 45-minute races that will be part of the Roar Before the Rolex 24 weekend.
Track action kicks off on Friday with a pair of practice sessions, followed by qualifying on Saturday morning and Race 1 at 2 p.m. ET. Race 2 is scheduled for Sunday at 1:20 p.m.
