Ginetta officially launched its new GT2 car last weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, ahead of an expected an expected customer racing debut in the GT2 European Series next year, plus eligibility in other series, including GT America powered by AWS.
The British constructor, which recently debuted its G51-LT-P3 Evo for LMP3 competition, will offer a GT2 car based on its G56 architecture, powered by a 6.3-liter supercharged V8 engine that’s capable of producing 800 hp, although will be restricted through SRO’s Balance of Performance.
The yet-to-be-named car features full carbon fiber bodywork to maintain GT2’s target weight of 1,250 kg, while other components include an Xrrac trans axle LMP gearbox with custom ratios, Sachs triple plate clutch, Ohlins TTX40 double wishbone suspension, Alcon GT endurance brake discs and calipers, a full Motec electronic suite, and Pirelli slick tires.
A total of six cars are expected to be produced by the end of the year, with a price of £325,000 ($445,000 USD) plus VAT.
“The Ginetta GT2 is the most exciting entry into high-level GT racing available today,” said Ginetta Motorsport CEO Mike Simpson. “We are hugely proud of the new car, both in terms of what it offers drivers and what it means to the brand.
“Today’s announcement will allow our drivers to perform under globally-leading SRO GT2 regulations, with direct access to a thriving international race calendar.
“In doing so, it will truly represent Ginetta on the global GT stage, showcasing our engineering excellence and driver-first ethos. I can’t wait to see it on the grid.”
SRO Motorsports Group founder and CEO Stephane Ratel added: “We are delighted to welcome Ginetta to the GT2 European Series grid for 2026.
“With a number of exciting initiatives in place for next season, the addition of a new manufacturer is especially encouraging.
“The Ginetta GT2 promises to uphold the brand’s reputation for performance and affordability, while also adding greater variety to the field. SRO has enjoyed a long and fruitful partnership with Ginetta, which has been a cornerstone of GT4 since the category was launched in 2007.
“I am hopeful that we can replicate this success in GT2.”
