Bijoy Garg is set to make his European Le Mans Series debut, joining United Autosports’ LMP2 effort for a joint program that also includes the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup.

The Indian-American driver, who made his LMP2 debut in the recent Rolex 24 at Daytona, will share the No. 23 Oreca 07 Gibson with Paul di Resta and Fabio Scherer for the six-round European series.

It will mark the first outings racing in Europe for Garg, who came up through the American single seater ranks before transitioning to LMP3 competition last year.

Garg’s sole previous experience completing outside of the U.S. came during last year’s Asian Le Mans Series season, where he drove for RLR MSport.

“I’m looking forward to racing in Europe,” said Garg, “New circuits, new challenges.

“I really enjoyed driving the LMP2 at my test with United Autosports in Portimão, which is where we’ll be racing in the final of what I’m determined will be a successful European Le Mans Series season.”

Garg is set to dovetail his ELMS involvements with his role as the third driver in the Michelin Endurance Cup events alongside di Resta and Bronze-rated Daniel Goldburg.

He made his IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship LMP2 debut at Daytona last month, although the No. 22 Oreca that he shared with di Resta, Goldburg and Felix Rosenqvist failed to finish.

“The dual programme we have signed with Bijoy is really exciting,” said United Autosports CEO Richard Dean.

“He’s had such a strong rookie sportscar season in the USA, so we’re looking forward to seeing him develop in the LMP2 in both IMSA and ELMS.

“We came away with the title of European Le Mans Series LMP2 Pro vice-champions in 2023 and, with the addition of Bijoy to the team, I’m confident we can achieve even more success in 2024.”
