Michelle Gatting will make her first race appearance since suffering a foot injury during the 24 Hours of Le Mans test day, rejoining the Iron Dames lineup for Sunday’s European Le Mans Series race at Imola.
The Danish racer spent roughly a month on the sidelines, missing both Le Mans and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round at Watkins Glen as a result of her injury.
While Sarah Bovy stepped in to replace Gatting at Le Mans, the No. 83 Porsche 911 GT3 R was withdrawn from the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen the following weekend.
For the 4 Hours of Imola, Gatting will rejoin Bovy and Celia Martin as part of a lineup that won the season opener at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in April.
The Imola return means Gatting will embark on a schedule of back-to-back races straight out of the gate, as the Imola event is followed by the fifth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship at Sao Paulo’s Interlagos circuit.
As shown by the initial entry list released for the event, the 31-year-old will share driving duties with Martin and Rahel Frey in Brazil.
