David Heinemeier Hansson will make his return to the European Le Mans Series this season as the final driver in Nielsen Racing’s LMP2 lineup.
The Danish driver will partner the previously-announced Will Stevens and Nico Pino aboard Nielsen’s No. 27 Oreca 07 Gibson for his first campaign in ELMS since 2022.
Last year, Silver-rated Heinemeier Hansson drove for JOTA in the LMP2 class of the FIA World Endurance Championship, scoring a class win at Monza and finishing sixth in the drivers’ standings alongside Pietro Fittipaldi and Oliver Rasmussen.
He drove for Inter Europol Competition in his most recent ELMS campaign, picking up a best finish of second at Spa.
Like Heinemeier Hansson, Stevens is making his return to the ELMS after an absence, having last competed in the series full-time in 2021 for Panis Racing, while Pino joins Nielsen after racing for Duqueine Team last year.
The pair will combine the six-round ELMS season, which begins next month at Barcelona, with their WEC commitments for Hertz Team JOTA and United Autosports respectively.
Nielsen’s 2023 Pro-Am lineup of Ben Hanley, Rodrigo Sales and Mathias Beche finished fourth overall in class last season with three podium finishes.
The team will once again run a car in Pro-Am this year, to be shared by John Falb, Albert Costa and Colin Noble.
