Portimao 2027 Finale Pushed Back by Two Weeks

Next year’s European Le Mans Series season finale at Portimao has been pushed back by two weeks following changes to the Portuguese circuit’s 2027 calendar.

The ELMS campaign was originally due to conclude at Portimao on Oct. 2 but this has now been delayed to Oct. 16, while none of the other five rounds have changed.

The revised date follows updates to the track’s calendar for next year, including confirmation that it will return to the Formula 1 schedule for 2027 with a date of June 18-20 for the Portuguese Grand Prix.

Per an ELMS statement, pushing back the 4 Hours of Portimao event would “ensure the best possible conditions for the organization of next year’s season finale.”

The change of date also has the benefit of avoiding a clash with the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS.

The original Portimao weekend was the same as the GTWC Europe’s Sprint Cup meeting at Hungaroring but the new date now falls a week before the GTWC Europe Endurance Cup finale at Barcelona.

This means there is now just one clash between the two series, with the second ELMS round at Paul Ricard on May 1-2 coinciding with the opening GTWC Europe Sprint Cup fixture at Brands Hatch.
