Derani Joins Nielsen Racing Lineup For Portimao Finale

Pipo Derani will return to the European Le Mans Series for the 4 Hours of Portimao season finale next month, driving for Nielsen Racing.

The Brazilian, who currently races for Genesis in the FIA World Endurance Championship,  previously tackled the first three events of the 2025 ELMS season with CLX Motorsport, taking a best result of third, before stepping back from racing to complete development work on the Genesis GMR-001.

The two-time IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship conqueror also made two ELMS appearances back in 2015 at the wheel of a Murphy Prototypes Oreca 03 Nissan.

Derani will now return to the category with Nielsen alongside Ed Pearson and Roy Nissany aboard the No. 24 Oreca 07 Gibson.

The team previously announced that Haas Formula 1 reserve Jack Doohan would not contest the final two rounds of the campaign and his place was taken by Derani’s fellow WEC Hypercar competitor Jack Aitken for the Silverstone event earlier this month with the car finishing fourth having led at one stage.

Derani will now step into the seat for the Oct. 10 Portimao contest, which falls a week before his next WEC commitment in Barcelona.
