Alex Lynn is due to make his return to racing in the European Le Mans Series season finale at Portimao next month reuniting with the Algarve Pro Racing squad with which he won the 2023 series title.

The Briton had been on the sidelines so far this year following treatment for a neck injury, but it had already been confirmed that he would return to the Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA lineup for the FIA World Endurance Championship round at Barcelona on Oct. 16-18.

It has now been revealed that Lynn will make his prototype racing comeback the week before that event by tackling the 4 Hours of Portimao in the No. 25 APR Oreca 07 Gibson.

It will mark the first time Lynn has raced LMP2 machinery since he drove for the team in the ELMS in 2024.

He will partner Jake Hughes and Matthias Kaiser in the APR car that was victorious last time out at Silverstone when Ben Barnicoat joined the lineup.

Lynn’s Portimao presence was revealed upon the publication of the 47-car Portimao entry list.

It had already been announced that Pipo Derani will step into the No. 24 Nielsen Racing machine for the season finale and the only other lineup tweak among the LMP2 ranks is that Tristan Vautier — who tackled the first four rounds with APR — will be taking the place of Maceo Capietto at the wheel of the No. 3 DKR Engineering Pro-Am class Oreca.

There is also a tweak for the No. 31 Racing Spirit of Leman Ligier JS P325 Toyota in the LMP3 class as Oskar Kristensen — the nephew of nine-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Tom — will make his series debut.

Meanwhile, in the LMGT3 division, Ralf Aron will continue aboard the No. 62 Iron Lynx Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo after triumphing at Silverstone, with his stablemates Abdulla Al-Khelaifi and Julien Hanses leading the class standings heading to Portugal.

The Racing Spirit of Leman Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo will also revert to its original crew of Clement Mateu, Valentin Hasse-Clot and Marius Fossard after a rotating cast of drivers contested the two most recent events.
