Fabio Scherer will make his return to United Autosports next year, having been confirmed as part of the team’s LMP2 class effort in the European Le Mans Series.

The 24-year-old Swiss driver will be reunited with Filipe Albuquerque in the No. 23 Oreca 07 Gibson alongside a third, yet-to-be-announced Silver-rated pilot.

Scherer, Albuquerque and Phil Hanson took part in the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship season together with the Anglo-American squad, claiming two class victories on the season.

More recently, Scherer was part of Inter Europol Competition’s LMP2 effort in the globe-trotting series, winning this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“I am super happy and honored to be back with United Autosports,” said Scherer.

“We had a good time last time and enjoyed great success – but we had some bad luck too. This year, we are looking to win as many races as possible and bring the European Le Mans Series championship home.”

United Autosports CEO Richard Dean added: “It’s really great to have Fabio back with the team. His transition to LMP2 was so strong, winning his first two races with us in the 2021 WEC.

“Now, we’re a few years down the line and Fabio is a Le Mans winner and WEC vice-champion, with three solid seasons of LMP2 experience under his belt. I can’t wait to get him back in the United Autosports Oreca 07.”
