The provisional entry list for the first Road to Le Mans race has been released, with a mixture of LMP3 and GT3 machinery totaling 39 entries.
ENTRY LIST: Road to Le Mans
Organized by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest and Le Mans Endurance Management, the 60-minute race will take place on the morning of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
There are 22 entries announced for the LMP3 category, many of which come from the European Le Mans Series class.
Meanwhile, 17 GT3 cars will take to the track, with most entries coming from the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup, for which the Road to Le Mans race will count in the points standings.
Currently, neither the LMP3 nor GT3 classes compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and so this race gives teams and manufacturers a chance to test their cars at La Sarthe.
Moreover, it provides a good starting point for amateur drivers. More than 30 of the currently-confirmed drivers are Bronze-rated.
Only LMP3 teams competing in the European and Asian Le Mans Series are able to compete, unless other teams are given an invite.
The Ligier JS P3 Nissan will make up the majority of the grid, with 20 of the 22 entries. It will be run by teams including United Autosports and DC Racing; the current ELMS points leaders and reigning Asian LMS champions, respectively.
Joining the Ligiers are a Ginetta P3-15 Nissan for Lawrence Tomlinson, and PS Racing’s ADESS 03 Nissan. Murphy Prototypes is listed as running a Ligier, although it does aim to receive its Ave-Riley AR-2 soon.
No fewer than nine different manufacturers will take part in the GT3 class.
AF Corse and Larbre Competition are the two teams competing in both the Road to Le Mans and the 24 Hours, and they’ll be joined by outfits including TF Sport, FF Corse and Barwell Motorsport, to name but a few.
Track action will start on Wed., June 15th, while the race will start at 11:10 a.m. on Sat., June 18.
