Khaled Al Qubaisi will make his first FIA World Endurance Championship start in more than a year, having been confirmed as part of Dempsey-Proton Racing’s lineup in this weekend’s 8 Hours of Bahrain.
The Emirati, who had been a regular in the globe-trotting series from 2014-16, will team up with Adrian De Leener and newly promoted Porsche Young Professional Thomas Preining in the No. 88 Porsche 911 RSR.
It will mark Al Qubaisi’s first WEC start since Shanghai 2018.
De Leener, meanwhile, will make his second start of the 2019-20 season in the car, having contested the Six Hours of Fuji in October alongside Preining and Satoshi Hoshino.
While the No. 88 Porsche has had a rotating driver lineup so far this season, team principal Christian Ried told Sportscar365 they hope to lock in a three-man crew for the remaining races.
Track action for the fourth round of the season gets underway on Thursday, with a total of 31 cars on the entry list.
