Audi has shown the early edge at Fuji Speedway, as its pair of R18 e-tron quattros topped the time charts in opening practice for Sunday’s FIA WEC Six Hours of Fuji.
Loic Duval was quickest in the 90-minute session, reeling off a 1:28.628 lap time in the No. 1 Audi. It was 0.296 seconds quicker than teammate Andre Lotterer in the sister diesel-powered entry.
Toyota ended up third quickest, thanks to a 1:28.981 lap time by Anthony Davidson in the No. 8 Toyota TS040 Hybrid, which features just a two-driver lineup this weekend with the absence of Nicolas Lapierre.
The No. 14 Porsche 919 Hybrid and No. 7 Toyota completed the top-five overall and in the LMP1-H class.
The No. 12 Rebellion R-One Toyota led the way in LMP1-L, while G-Drive Racing was quickest in LMP2 with a 1:34.356 in the No. 26 Ligier JS P2 Nissan.
While Porsche Team Manthey topped GTE-Pro, it was an Aston Martin Racing 1-2 in GTE-Am, led by the No. 98 Vantage GTE of Pedro Lamy.
The 90-minute session saw one red flag for debris on the front straight. No other incidents were reported.
