The first set of delayed containers have arrived at Lusail International Circuit ahead of Monday’s postponed FIA World Endurance Championship Prologue.
The No. 91 Manthey EMA Porsche 911 GT3 R was seen unloaded around 3 p.m. local time on Saturday, along with spare parts for the LMGT3 entry.
Iron Lynx and Le Mans Endurance Management also received containers this afternoon, with additional containers expected to arrive into the night.
A WEC spokesperson confirmed to Sportscar365 that a dedicated ship transport was organized for the sea-freight to Doha although it was diverted to Jeddah due to the closure of the Bab-el-Mandeb, the strait separating Djibouti and Yemen, because of the current geopolitical situation.
It’s understood the freight was then held up at the Jeddah port for around five days before clearing customs for the 900-mile/16-hour drive by truck to Lusail.
Teams now with their equipment will have just over 36 hours to unload and prep for the two-day pre-season test, which is currently scheduled to get underway at 8:30 a.m. local time on Monday.
